Dedicated to the study, interpretation and conservation of our natural resources.
Weinberg Nature Center (estab. 1958)
455 Mamaroneck Rd, Scarsdale NY 10518
Trails open 7 days week, sunrise to sunset --
Please follow guidelines and practice social distancing and be safe!
Our Nature Center is not operating with familiar community and school programs, due to COVID19. But, by all means, enjoy the trails! If interested in ZOOM LINKS (SEE BELOW)
Come picnic on the grounds, observe the wildlife and go for a hike! Take out what you take in, thanks! You will notice a thriving vegetable garden and the ground site for the new geodesic greenhouse dome.
The population of squirrels at this wildlife sanctuary is over 90% rescued squirrels (either orphaned babies or injured). You will notice they are very social and always busy. Usually, they do not run off within five feet of people. But they are wild animals. DO NOT TRY AND PET! Many are still in training, being led to live deeper in the forest. They need to be independent if they are to survive. All squirrel releases have a good bill of health (thank you certified rehabbers, Maura and Regina!)
"Henrieta" is our wild turkey who lives at our wildlife sanctuary. Her babies are 3 weeks! Please give her 15 feet space if you see her. It's hard work being a turkey mamma (hen)!
As you spot and see deer and woodchucks, woodpecker or osprey, snake or frog -- if you notice anything out of the ordinary tell Sam or Maura right away: Maura Mandrano, Widlife Rehabilitator (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Sam Weinstock, Weinberg Director and Village Naturalist (email@example.com)
