The Weinberg Nature Center's Animal Friends

The Weinberg Nature Center is presently home to more more than 40 animal friends, including:

  • 3 chinchillas

  • 1 rabbit

  • 3 guinea pigs

  • 3 toads

  • 1 quail

  • 1 domesticated rat

  • 3 snakes

  • 7 geckos

  • 2 tarantulas

  • 5 turtles

  • 1 scorpion

  • 1 helix snail

  • 1terrestrial crab

    2 green-faced conures

  • 2 bearded dragons

  • 25 Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches

  • 1 blue tongue skink

  • 20 stick bugs

  • 1 Solomon Is Centipede

  • 3 frogs and 1 cane toad

  • 5 pigeon-dove

Neighbors: We have close animal transients, like Henrietta and Tommy, two wild turkeys who often visit the Nature Center with a handful of poults (baby turkeys!).

Did you know?: 90% of the squirrel population at this wildlife sanctuary has either been orphaned or injured and successfully completed rehabilitation
with Maura Mandrano (licensed).
