About the event
Catch the spirit of (sustainable) foraging! July is prime for mushroom foraging at Weinberg Nature Center and locally!
Mycology and ecology enthusiast, Christopher Sheldon, will guide participants on and off trail. Mr. Sheldon will teach all how to locate and identify mushrooms. Also, how people can sustainably harvest these funghi. We will start at Weinberg Nature Center and take a local trail hike exploring local ecology, sub-habitats, native plants and edible flora.
Please be sure to wear good walking shoes and full-length pants to keep ticks and bugs off. Bring a water bottle and snack. If highly allergic to poison ivy please inform the Weinberg Director, Sam, he will accompany you on the tour.
Christopher Sheldon is a Wild Mushroom Food Safety Certified, Cicerone 1, GLINTCAP Medalist 2019. Event Participants will sign a waiver upon Event arrival regarding non-responsibility disclosure regarding funghi consumption (waiver and health and safety issues will be reviewed before the hike).
