Betsy Shank is a Certified Wildlife Rehabilitator (CWR) through the International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council (IWRC), she teaches at state and national wildlife rehabilitation conferences. Known for her approachable, down-to-earth teaching style, Betsy bridges the gap between science and real-world practice. Her work emphasizes compassionate care, strong ethics, and thoughtful coexistence between people and wildlife. Betsy's presentation will center around live native mammals, like a woodchuck, rabbit, flying squirrel, etc.

AFTERSCHOOL COURSE: WOODWORKING AND NATURE SKILLS

Participants will hike and make walking sticks, prepare animal wood cut-outs, burn engrave, learn about hard and soft wood. Everyone will assist in making an educational fire and learn branding techniques with Weinberg Naturalist Sam.

FAMILY GARDENING PROGRAM, Spring 2026 NEW!

WHERE: Weinberg Nature Center, open green and garden area.
COST: $160 per family
Join us planning out our Spring gardens, planting fruits/vegetables and native flower plants, learning all about soil and seed cultivation, transplanting from pot to garden, composting and sustainability. Each family will take home plants for their home gardens.
Bring water bottle and gloves, favorite trowel.

Two By Two Animal Haven Inc. is an immensely popular animal outreach program run by the Iannucci family: Peter, Heather, Jessica, and Casey. This is a hands-on family-friendly program, participants will interact with a kangaroo, a pig, sheep, goats, tortoises, chickens, ducks and others. Some animals like the American alligator will be for viewing not touching.

Dr. Laura Jaworsky, DVM, is a popular animal presenter. Her wildlife concentration is rehabilitating owls. Dr. Laura will bring native and non-native owls to the open green at Weinberg Nature Center.
